Job Description

EXPERIENCED & RESPONSIBLE EQUIPMENT OPERATOR

Looking for hard workers to join our experienced tree crews. Working from our home base in Caledon to varying locations across the GTA, lots of steady work. Varying tree services, tree removal, stump removal, tree pruning, shrub pruning, wood and brush cleanup, storm damage cleanup, front & back yards of residential, estate and forested properties & city contract work. Exciting work with professional equipment, trucks, trailers, skid steers, ATV's and more. Reliable and punctual worker with cell phone and G licence required, DZ preferred. Must have own means of transportation to get to and from our yard near Hwy 9 and Hwy 50 in Northern Caledon.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Performs the following job tasks as an EQUIPMENT OPERATOR as required or assigned:

i. Operate power equipment such as trucks, dump trailers, skid steers, cranes, wood chippers, stump grinders, chainsaws, blowers, hand tools such as rakes, shovels, axes, ropes and rigging gear

ii. Assist tree crews with tree removals, tree pruning, using specialized power equipment to cleanup properties, cut wood & brush, use cranes, skid steers & ATV's to load & move tree material, run wood chippers

iii. Remove stumps using specialized stump grinder equipment and clean up general work site area with machinery

iv. Make proper application of all vehicles and equipment to prevent damage, safeguard company and customer property, in addition to protecting desirable vegetation, lawn, or otherwise

v. Full and thorough inspection clean up of all worksites and circle check of all vehicles and equipment before leaving yard and work sites.

vi. In addition to above, performs other duties as required or assigned.

2. Follows proper PPE mandatory requirements

i. HI-VIZ clothing, gloves, steel-toed boots, safety glasses, helmet, ear muffs, chainsaw pants

3. Safeguards employees and public from hazards in and around the work area

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Must have a valid G or DZ drivers license & own means of transportation

2. Must be able to operate and maintain dump trucks, trailers, specialized equipment such as skid steers, cranes, wood chippers, ATVs, and as required chainsaws, stump grinders

3. Must obtain and maintain Operators certification (First Aid, CPR, Skid Steer, Crane, Chainsaw, etc.) or other licences as required by MapleGreen

4. Must be capable of utilizing two handed equipment (rakes, shovels, chainsaws, axe, etc.) and have the physical ability to endure extreme climate variances

5. Must be able to perform physical labour such as lifting a minimum of 50 lbs. to shoulder height or more

6. Must be skilled in the reading and understanding of work orders and maps

7. Must have mechanical aptitude & problem solving skills

8. Have cell phone with plan & good communication skills

9. Previous experience operating any relatable power equipment, skid steers, mini excavators, tractors, fork-trucks, cranes, chainsaws, all an asset

10. Full additional training provided on site

POSITION TYPE

- Full Time/Contract (January – December)

- Work Days: Monday - Friday

- Hours: 40-44/week

- Overtime: After 44 hours/week

SALARY RANGE

- Starting wage based on experience and qualifications

- Range $22-$28/hr

- 6% vacation pay (3 weeks)

- 3 months probation & training

- Raise after probation based upon excellent performance
