Job Description


Looking for hard workers to join our experienced tree crews. Working from our home base in Caledon to varying locations across the GTA, lots of steady work. Varying tree services, tree removal, stump removal, tree pruning, shrub pruning, wood and brush cleanup, storm damage cleanup, front & back yards, residential and estate properties & city contract work. Exciting work with professional equipment. Reliable and punctual worker with cell phone and G licence required. Must have own means of transportation to get to and from our yard near Hwy 9 and Hwy 50, in Northern Caledon.


1. Performs work functions as an ARBORIST - ENTRY / INTERMEDIATE TREE CLIMBER with a team while under supervision of a crew leader or foreman

a. Performs the following job tasks as required or assigned:

i. Trim trees, involving climbing, roping, lowering and working in trees

ii. Remove trees, involving climbing trees, felling trees, clean up brush and disposing of all debris

iii. Making proper application of equipment and rigging techniques to prevent damage to customer property, desirable vegetation, lawn, or otherwise

iv. Operate power equipment such as trucks, trailers, ATV's, wood chippers, aerial lifts, bucket trucks, chainsaws, pole-saws, use ladders and hand tools such as hand saws, axes, pruners, ropes, block and tackle etc. and work with crews utilizing skid steers, mini-loaders, cranes, winches

v. Full and thorough inspection clean up of all worksites and circle check of all vehicles and equipment before leaving sites

3. Responsible for the inspection, proper working conditions and safeguarding of all tools and equipment assigned to the crew

4. Follow and enforce safe work practices, rules and policies, safeguards employees and public from hazards in and around the work area

5. Maintain good customer and public relations through effective communication and the proper accomplishment of assigned work

6. Display respectful and professional behaviour through the course of work in and among all other employees, crew leaders, foreman, customers and general public

7. In addition to the above, performs other duties as required or assigned

8. Follows proper PPE mandatory requirements

i. HI-VIZ clothing, chainsaw pants, gloves, steel-toed boots, helmet, ear muffs, safety glasses or visor


1. Minimum of ONE to TWO years experience of work or study in the tree service industry, on tree trimming or tree removal crews, as an arborist, tree climber, apprentice, groundsman or other MapleGreen approved equivalent

2. Have a good knowledge of trees including identification, growth habits and correct arboriculture techniques for trimming, pruning, repairing, maintaining and removing

3. Must obtain and maintain Operators certification (First Aid, CPR, Work at Heights, Chainsaw, Technical Tree Felling, etc.) or other licences as required by MapleGreen

4. Problem solving skills, reading and understanding of work orders and maps, and mechanical aptitude all assets

5. Have a valid G driver license, D-Z preferred & own means of transportation

6. Have a cell phone with plan & good communication skills

7. Full additional training provided on site

- Full Time/Contract (January – December)

- Work Days: Monday - Friday

- Hours: 40-44/week

- Overtime: After 44 hours/week


- Starting wage based on experience and qualifications

- Range $22-26/hr

  • Entry Level $22-24/hr
  • Intermediate Level $24-26/hr

- 6% vacation pay (3 weeks)

- 3 months probation & training

- Raise after probation based upon excellent performance
