A plant health care specialist’s primary focus will consist of diagnostics, sales, and building/maintaining client relations. Excellent communication skills and professionalism while providing high-quality services is required daily. Clients will look to a plant health care specialist to provide a diagnosis and educate them while in the field. This individual is a key member of the team and is relied upon to complete projects safely and efficiently. The successful candidate is a reliable, hardworking, and analytical thinker. We are looking for an extremely keen person who has the ability to know and understand customer’s needs. to fill this position who has a passion and interest in the Arboriculture Industry and wants to learn more! This is an entry level role with an opportunity for growth and advancement.
Position Responsibilities
- Arrive on time with a professional appearance, positive attitude, eagerness to work, fit for duty and fully equipped
- Identify common pests and diseases in arboriculture
- Understand of treatment plans and best methods and techniques to suppress pests and diseases safely yet effectively
- Tree identification
- Research upcoming trends, populations, and treatments relative to pests and disease in the urban forest
- Establish and understand customer’s needs
- Carry out all duties efficiently while following the Company’s safety procedures and policies
- Provide innovative and thought-out solutions to issues in the workplace to increase customer loyalty
- Communicate clearly and concisely with clients, co-workers, and management.
- Ensure end of day tasks are completed, (vehicles cleaned, washed, plugged in, equipment inspected, etc.)
- Accurately complete all necessary paperwork (timesheets, tailboard conferences, etc.)
Position Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in sales/marketing considered an asset
- Excellent communication and problem solving skills
- Willingness to work towards becoming a certified Arborist
- Ability to work safely as part of a team and possess the willingness to learn and progress
- First Aid/CPR considered an asset
- Knowledge of industry rules and regulations considered an asset
- Landscape exterminator license (full or technician) considered an asset
- Valid provincial driver’s license. Class G license and clean driver abstract required
- DZ license is considered an asset
Additional Information
- 40-44 hours/week (depending on weather and season)
- Overtime hours (beyond 44/week) are likely, but not definite, during spring and summer months.
- Work hours are approximately Monday to Friday 6:30 am to 3:30 pm in the summer and 7:00 am to 4:00 pm in the winter (work hours my vary due to weather, etc.)
