The Consulting Arborist conducts site visits and completes reports, regarding tree health assessments and tree protection plans for tree preservation.
Responsibilities of the Consulting Arborist:
- Communicates with existing and potential clients on an on-going basis
- Prepares estimates pertaining to arborist reports
- Completes large and small scale tree health assessments and inventories
- Completes arborist reports pertaining to:
- Tree maintenance plans
- Tree removal and injury permits
- Tree preservation plans in relation to construction and development
- Ravine Stewardship Plans (RSP)
- Root explorations
- Sample collection for laboratory diagnosis and soil nutrient profiling
- Submitting arborist reports and applications to appropriate Forestry offices
- Correspondence with the Municipality regarding permit applications
Qualifications
- ISA Certification, Humber Certification, Registered Professional Forestry (RPF) or equivalent credential required
- Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ) an asset
- 2-3 years’ experience with report writing in an Arboricultural context
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
- Is driven and self-directed when completing tasks
- “G” driver’s license with a clean abstract
- Good understanding of trees and shrubs – their biology, habits, and identification
- Good understanding of tree pests and diseases an asset
- Proficiency in computer skills, including:
- Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and Outlook
- PDF Editing software
- CAD software
