Senior Consulting Arborist

The Consulting Arborist conducts site visits and completes reports, regarding tree health assessments and tree protection plans for tree preservation. 

Responsibilities of the Consulting Arborist:

• Communicates with existing and potential clients on an on-going basis
• Prepares estimates pertaining to arborist reports
• Completes large and small scale tree health assessments and inventories
• Completes arborist reports pertaining to:
  • Tree maintenance plans
  • Tree removal and injury permits
  • Tree preservation plans in relation to construction and development
  • Ravine Stewardship Plans (RSP)
  • Root explorations
• Sample collection for laboratory diagnosis and soil nutrient profiling
• Submitting arborist reports and applications to appropriate Forestry offices
• Correspondence with the Municipality regarding permit applications

Qualifications

• ISA Certification, Humber Certification, Registered Professional Forestry (RPF) or equivalent credential required
• Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ) an asset
• 2-3 years’ experience with report writing in an Arboricultural context
• Excellent communication skills
• Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
• Is driven and self-directed when completing tasks
• “G” driver’s license with a clean abstract
• Good understanding of trees and shrubs – their biology, habits, and identification
• Good understanding of tree pests and diseases an asset
• Proficiency in computer skills, including:
  • Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • PDF Editing software
  • CAD software

• Rate of pay will vary with experience and skills
