Job Description

Looking for a hardworking professional to join our experienced tree crew. Working from our home base in Caledon to varying locations across the GTA with lots of steady work. Varying tree services, tree removal, stump removal, tree pruning, shrub pruning, wood and brush cleanup, storm damage cleanup, front & back yards, residential and estate properties. Exciting work with professional equipment, chip trucks, crane truck, trailers, skid steers, ATV's and more. Reliable and punctual worker with cell phone and G licence required, DZ preferred. Must have own means of transportation to get to and from our yard near HWY 9 and HWY 50.


  1. Follows proper PPE mandatory requirements
  2. HI-VIZ clothing, chainsaw pants, gloves, steel-toed boots, helmet, ear muffs, safety glasses or visor
  3. a. Performs work functions as an arborist / tree climber
  4. Directly manages a tree service crew, receives and carries out work orders and reports to foreman
  5. Performs the following job tasks as required or assigned:
  6. Plans and lays out daily work for crews. Considers such factors as ability to get power equipment to locations, time required to complete work, clean-up time, equipment available, weather conditions, customer permissions, etc.
  7. Trims trees, involving climbing, roping, lowering and working in trees

iii. Removes trees, fell trees, clean up brush and disposes of all debris

  1. Makes proper application of vehicles, equipment and rigging techniques to prevent damage to company equipment, customer property, desirable vegetation, lawn, or otherwise
  2. Manages, operates and works with crews utilizing power equipment such as trucks, trailers, wood chippers, aerial lifts, cranes, skid steers, mini-loaders, ATV's, winches, chainsaws, pole-saws, use ladders and hand tools such as hand saws, axes, pruners, ropes, block and tackle etc.
  3. Full and thorough inspection clean up of all worksites, liaison with customers and necessary communication with foreman before leaving yard and sites
  4. Responsible for the inspection, proper working conditions and safeguarding of all tools and equipment assigned to the crew by foreman
  5. Follows and enforce safe work practices, rules and policies, safeguards co-workers, customers and the public from hazards in and around the work area
  6. Maintains good customer and public relations through effective communication and the proper accomplishment of assigned work, controls traffic around work-site, answers questions and provides information to clients
  7. Displays respectful and professional behaviour through the course of work in and among all other crew members and foreman
  8. Carries out responsible, independent action that mutually benefits both the utility and MapleGreen Tree Services
  9. In addition to the above, performs other duties as required or assigned


  1. Minimum of TWO+ years experience of work and study in the tree service industry, on tree trimming or tree removal crews, as an arborist, tree climber, or other MapleGreen approved equivalent
  2. Must have a great knowledge of trees including identification, growth habits and correct arboriculture techniques for trimming, pruning, repairing, maintaining and removing
  3. Must be capable of effectively operating specialized arborist and tree crew equipment (throw lines, ropes, blocks, pulleys, porta-wraps, rigging systems, chainsaws, polesaws, pole pruners, hedge trimmers, axes, etc.) and have the physical ability to endure extreme climate variances
  4. Must be skilled in the reading and understanding of work orders and maps, have great problem solving skills, and mechanical aptitude
  5. Must obtain and maintain Operators certification (First Aid, CPR, Work at Heights, Chainsaw, Technical Tree Felling, Urban Arboriculture, Crane, Stump Grinder, etc.) or other licences as required by MapleGreen
  6. Have a valid driver’s license (G required, D-Z license an asset) and own means of transportation
  7. Have a cell phone with plan and great communication skills
  8. Full additional training provided on site


Hard working, punctual, attention to detail, overall responsibility for all actions, communication between crew members and foreman, teamwork, positive attitude


- Full Time/Contract (January – December)

- Work Days: Monday - Friday

- Hours: 40-44/week

- Overtime: After 44 hours/week


- Wage Range $25-$30/hr based on experience and qualifications

- 6% vacation pay (3 weeks)

- 3 months probation & training

- Raise after probation based upon excellent performance
